ARCH Initiatives Cymru was established in 2009 to provide a stronger focus to our criminal justice work in Wales.
We provide services for anyone experiencing difficulty with substance misuse and offending across North Wales as part of the Welsh Assembly Government and UK Home Office Drug Intervention Programme.
Our services are delivered in police custody suites and centres across Anglesey, Gywnedd, Flintshire, Wrexham, Conwy and Denbighshire.
We work closely with North Wales Police, National Probation Service, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, Welsh Assembly Government, Criminal Justice Board, local authorities and other partner agencies to offer an integrated service and ensure every person’s needs are met.
ARCH Initiatives Cymru services include:
• Arrest Referral Services including Test On Arrest, Court based interventions, Restriction on Bail (ROB) and Required Assessments.
• Prison In Reach Support which links vulnerable individuals with local treatment and support services when they are released.
• Drug Rehabilitation Requirements (DRR)
• Drug Testing
• Priority and Persistent Offender services (PPO)
• Alcohol Arrest Referral Services
• Drug Intervention Programme community support teams
In Flintshire, we also offer an intensive floating tenancy support scheme, known as "Foundations".
Foundations - Flintshire Floating Tenancy Support Service
What is Foundations? “Foundations” is an intensive floating tenancy support service operating within Flintshire designed to provide support to offenders and substance using offenders who are experiencing difficulty sustaining their tenancy or who need assistance to find accommodation and an intensive support package to maintain it.This project aims to assist service users to establish the “Foundations” they require in order help reduce their offending and substance use through sustainable accommodation support.
Foundations is delivered in partnership with Flintshire County Council Supporting People Department and ARCH Initiatives.
Who can refer to Foundations?
Foundations is open to self referrals or referrals from any organisation who identifies an offender that may benefit from this service and particularly welcomes referrals from Probation Services, Health Services, Community Services or the broader Criminal Justice system.
What is on offer through Foundations?
The Foundation's Floating Tenancy Support Team can offer :
Support and navigation into accommodation
Mediation between landlord and tenant
Negotiation around rent arrears and support to establish budgeting, payment plans and supported access to welfare benefits organisations locally
Onward referral for enhanced wraparound support needs to address offending or substance use
Regular and intensive one-one support to maintain tenancies, resolve disputes and encourage the development of independent living skills
